Learned something pretty crazy today about demographics in the U.S. Do you know what age group represents the strongest population growth over the next 40+ years?  Centenarians. In other words, those people living at least to 100 years old.   Today we have around 70,000 centenarians here in the U.S. By some researchers estimates, by the year 2050 there will be over 800,000 centenarians in the U.S.!   If I can stay healthy and keep in good shape I should be around to see how those numbers work out.  But it’s pretty amazing. Who knows, with advances in medical technology that estimate may even be conservative.Â
The research also shows that a constructive, optimistic and conscientious approach to daily living leads to a longer life. Coupled of course with moderate risk factors for behavioral choices.   The new view is that people these days are not dying of “old age” but rather from poor nutrition, lack of exercise and bad habits.   In terms of personality, neurotic and antagonistic attitudes are not positive traits to living longer!   Â
Wow… If we keep saving and investing, our retirement portfolio could look pretty sweet in 42 years! See… I’m being positive already.

Speaking of attitudes, I really liked Bing’s answer to a question from someone struggling to balance work efficiency with personal challenges that many co-workers and employees have at times:Â
“You are at a critical juncture. Two roads have converged in a yellow wood and you have to choose one. Take the left road, and you will end up being a Dick. Take the right road, and you’ll be a slightly less successful nice person. I warn you. There is ABSOLUTELY NO CORRELATION between being a nice person and being a success in business.”
“There is, however, A DIRECT CORRELATION between being a Dick and being a success in business.” Bing
